The Bible

The Bible is the core religious text for Judaism and Christianity. There are 39 books that make up the Bible and it took more than a century and a half to complete it. The books in the Old Testament are separated into four sections:
- The Pentateuch - which is the five books of Moses.
- Historical - the books from Joshua to Ester
- The Poetical - There are five books in the poet category - from Job to Solomon.

The makeup of the bible varies between religions and denominations to include different translations, books, verses and even ordering.
Notable Versions
- Tanakh: The version used in Judaism that shares many similarities with the Christian version.
- Old Testament: A slightly modified version of the Tanakh that serves as the first half of the Christian canon.
- New Testament: The second half of the Christian Bible that tells the story of Jesus and his teachings.
- King James Bible - A widely circulated version that was translated into English in 1604 by the Church of England.
- Jefferson Bible - A version cut down by Thomas Jefferson to include only the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth and exclude supernatural occurrences.
- Dead Sea Scrolls: Original documents produced before 100 AD that contain religious text, including that of the Old Testament.
